Who Should Attend This one day event is ideal for, Vice Principals, Finance Directors, MIS managers, senior curriculum managers, key decision makers in colleges, education providers and others with an interest in how the College sector works and how the data that you collect is used by the Inspectors.
Overview With the increasing focus on quality of provision it is important that the underlying data supports the actual performance in the classroom. With the complexity of the ILR it is easy to see why sometimes the data does not support the outcomes of lesson observations. With the introduction of Minimum Levels of Performance by the LSC and the focus on demonstrating improving success rates by Ofsted it is important to ensure accuracy of the data.
Aims of the day
- Outline how Success Rates are calculated and how the data is presented to the LSC and Ofsted
- Highlight common mistakes in the data and how you can overcome these issues
- Provide you with practical solutions on how improve success rates.

Efficiency and Effectiveness - Benchmarking and using your Data to make Management Decisions |
 | Thursday 13th November 2008 One Day Seminar: Protocol National, Castle Marina Road, Nottingham.
Who Should Attend This one day event is ideal for, Vice Principals, Finance Directors, MIS managers, senior curriculum managers, key decision makers in colleges, education providers and others with an interest in how the College sector works and how the data that you collect can be used to better manage the College.
Overview Affordability is one of the key indicators that the LSC are focussing on and as such it is important that you consider how efficient the provision you are delivering is. The data that is collected by the MIS team can be used to support this calculation. It is too easy in some instances to cut the activity you are offering on the grounds that it is not cost efficient, however other things need to be considered including the impact that the removal will have on the College’s success rates and also whether the provision attracts learners to the College. When you work in isolation this can also be a challenge – The ability to benchmark your performance against others is a valuable tool, and one few Colleges utilise fully.
Aims of the day
- Outline how you can calculate the efficiency and effectiveness of the provisio
Explain how you can use the data to make decisions
- Demonstrate how benchmarks can help you better contextualise your performance
- Provide you with practical solutions on how to improve/ manage both the efficiency and effectiveness of the activity you deliver.
